California High of San Ramon CA sophomore Madison Chavez placed second in the girls 10th-grade 2-mile race in 12:59.6 at the 36th Monte Vista Invitational at Oak Hill Park in Danville, Calif. Chavez improved from 12th last season in the freshman 2-mile race in 14:44.7 to elevate to the No. 10 all-time sophomore in meet history. Chavez also produced the fifth-fastest time overall at the meet, regardless of grade.
